Canadian Communities - Ottawa, Ontario The Region of Ottawa-Carleton
has been repeatedly rated as the best place to live in Canada...for very good
reason. The nation’s capital is not only a hub of federal and international
affairs, it is also quickly becoming known as A truly beautiful city, Ottawa is dedicated to maintaining the green-spaces that have become our main attraction: bike paths along the Rideau River and Gatineau parkways, the Rideau Canal winding through the city, countless parks and nature trails literally around the corner from downtown and residential areas. Hosting many popular annual festivals, including Winterlude in February, the Tulip Festival in May, and the Jazz festival in July, has also made the Region a hotspot for international travelers. Museums and galleries of national status are popular destinations for locals and tourists alike, offering exhibits that range from aeronautics to zoology with everything in between. Ottawa is very much an ethnically diverse community that functions in both official languages. There are ±12,500 members of the Ottawa Jewish community, including a substantial number of Russian-speaking newcomers. The Solway Jewish Centre boasts a beautiful new fitness centre and swimming pool. The community is blessed with a number of synagogues and Jewish schools, both day schools and afternoon schools.
