Chanukah Sameach

The holiday of Chanukah is on our doorstep.  It is a holiday when families gather together to eat, sing, play, light candles and remember.

The story of the Macabees begins amidst despair and suffering of the Jewish people.  Through communal responsibility, and a little help from above, however, the lights of Jewish life were rekindled.  Day in and day out, JIAS continues this Chanukah tradition, bringing light, and much sought assistance, to those newcomers to our community who need it most.

JIAS Canada has been helping refugees and immigrants for almost a century; always ready to welcome them and help them build new lives.  Over the course of this long history, many have walked through the doors of JIAS with stories of pain, hardship, and heartbreak but leave having found hope and a new strength.

Many years later they share stories of resilience, triumph and celebration that make our whole community proud.  Their light has enriched Canadian Jewish communities from coast to coast with new skills, talents and traditions.

We would like to wish you and your loved ones Chag Sameach.  May the light of the Chanukah candles brighten the dark winter nights and bring peace to all Israel.
