A message from our President

We are again approaching Chanukah, a time when we celebrate many miracles, including the religious freedom we gained centuries ago.   And again, this year, as we light the candles on our menorahs with our loved ones, we should take a moment to reflect on all Jews, worldwide, and especially those who may be in difficulty at this time.

JIAS Canada has been helping Jewish newcomers for almost a century.  When refugees or immigrants arrive in Canada we and our service providers across the country welcome them and help them build new lives.  Over the course of this long history, many have walked through our doors with stories of pain, hardship, and heartbreak but leave having found hope and a new strength.  And, like the Maccabees, we see them triumphing over adversity and becoming proud, contributing members of the Canadian Jewish community.

On behalf of the Board and Staff of JIAS Canada we wish you and your families Chag Sameach.  May the light of the Chanukah candles brighten the dark winter nights and bring peace to all Israel.

Shlomo Mayman
President
