“Neither In, Nor Out”

 Community Building in Edmonton

Jewish Family Services of Edmonton has identified a number of Jewish people in the community who are "neither in nor completely out" of existing structures.  After a long and thoughtful preparation process, a Community Worker and Social Work student have worked together to develop the concept and format for a six-week course focussed on Community Building and Involvement.  We're calling the group "NINO" (Neither In, Nor Out).  This is a group for Jewish people who feel that something is missing for them in terms of community belonging.  The goal is Tikkun Olam, which is the healing of self, community and the world.

The group-course includes the following topics:

- Community and friendship

- Challah baking

-  Loss and Jewish Holidays

-  The Narrative of Exile

-  Understanding oneself and others in the multicultural context of life

-  Field of connection (how, why and where you can choose to be involved in our    community.
