DISTURBING NEWS FROM EDMONTON

from Jeni Adler Magat

A disturbing news item coming out of the Edmonton Community Support program is the FIRST reported violent attack on a Jewish person in this city.

Jewish Family Service received a call to assist and support an Ethiopian Jewish immigrant who was questioned about his Magen David and then beaten unconscious by three to five unknown men.  This shocking event occurred at 10p.m. in the summer when it was still light, on a busy, well trafficked street.  JFS is working in collaboration with the Federation, police, legal counselling and other contacts to ensure that everything possible is done to take care of the man involved.
